Taj Group's Quilon voted best Indian restaurant in London at Bookatable Awards

The restaurant also won the most innovative and exciting wine list at CNJ Taittinger UK Awards

Quilon has been voted the Best Indian Restaurant in London at the first ever Bookatable Restaurant Awards this month. This is the second victory in 2015 for the restaurant, which also won Most Innovative and Exciting Wine List 2015 at the Condé Nast Johansens Taittinger UK Wine List Awards.

The Bookatable Awards are based solely on verified reviews from diners that have visited the restaurant first hand. 150,000 reviews and star ratings from the Bookatable website were analyzed to form the final decisions. Michelin-starred Quilon joins other London institutions like The Ritz, which won in the Top restaurant and Top British restaurant categories and Amalfi, which won Best Italian restaurant in London.

Speaking about the Bookatable Awards, Joe Steele, CEO Bookatable, said, “Reviews are playing an ever more vital role in the decision-making process for diners when choosing a restaurant. We have made diner reviews a key feature of our site, to help our consumers to discover and be inspired by trusted ratings from fellow foodies. As part of this, we are pleased to launch our very own restaurant awards, based on the data from our hundreds of thousands of verified reviews by consumers who have booked online and dined through”

At the Condé Nast Johansens Taittinger UK Wine List Awards, the panel of judges described Quilon’s wine offering as “a list that is truly innovative in its categorization and one that encourages the diner to set off on a journey of discovery. A top quality list.”

Commenting on the awards, chef and director operations, Sriram Aylur, said: “We are very proud to have been given these accolades and to have received such excellent reviews and ratings from diners. This is testament to our commitment and dedication to the freshest ingredients and our playful desire to blend traditional home-cooking with modern dishes for a thrilling, unique and progressive South West Coastal Indian dining experience, enhanced by superb wine pairing.”

Quilon solicited the assistance of Peter McCombie, Master of Wine to compile the wine list to accompany the sophisticated spicing and flavours of the menu. While all of the wines on Quilon’s list have been chosen because of their quality and character, the primary goal was to find wines that offered drinking pleasure. As well as a strong selection of classics, certain styles and origins are particularly well represented because they are versatile and complement Quilon’s cuisine well. And while some of wines may be unfamiliar to the diner, they’re encouraged to experiment. Please click here to read more about the Conde’ Nast Johansens Taittinger UK Wine List Awards.
